Study in Hungary
Hungary is among the top tourist destinations in Europe with the capital Budapest regarded as one of the most beautiful cities worldwide. Despite its relatively small size, the country is home to numerous World Heritage Sites, UNESCO Biosphere Reserves, the second largest thermal lake in the world (Lake Hévíz), the largest lake in Central Europe (Lake Balaton), and the largest natural grassland in Europe (Hortobágy).
However, there are some exceptions: medicine, pharmacy, dental and veterinary studies, architecture, law, teacher training, and certain arts-, crafts- and design-related study programmes, which retain a long single-cycle structure of 5 or 6 years of study. A four-year doctoral programme is a post-graduate course to follow any Master’s or equivalent qualification.
The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) is the only existing credit system in Hungary, ensuring transparency of the learning, teaching and assessment processes by facilitating the recognition of learning achievements and qualifications in many countries throughout the European Higher Education Area. With ECTS, the alternative option to study in Europe for Indian students is possible, especially if they want to opt for a higher course elsewhere.
